Scope
The Special Session on Information and Data Quality (IDQ) aims to assemble researchers and practitioners from diverse backgrounds, including information systems, information technology, software engineering, web-based systems, computer-based education and cloud computing, to discuss the state-of-the-art and challenges in the area of information and data quality.
Many organizations are struggling to manage complex IT systems. Databases are as valuable as the quality of the data they store. Business intelligence and data warehousing are nowadays common approaches to improve business information systems, often under labels like CRM, ERP and Supply-chain management. Information systems can nowadays be deployed externally using cloud computing facilities, including the infrastructure, the platform and several kinds of software. Externalizing data has implications on data access, security, timeliness and availability thus data quality may encompass nowadays also aspects related to these. In some organizations, IT management concepts and a data governance function have been established - a recognition of the importance of Data and Information Quality to organizations. To address a range of information and data quality challenges, several approaches, techniques and management concepts have been suggested; however as the data and information quality problems in organizations demonstrate require additional research work.
The special session on IDQ invites quality papers describing original research ideas, case studies and new findings on research aspects related to data and information quality, in particular papers describing methods, techniques, recent advances, applications and tools that may relate to innovative technical solutions and modern architectural concepts such as cloud computing and/or services computing in the present or in the near future.
Publications
All accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book, under an ISBN reference and on CD-ROM support.
All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library (http://www.scitepress.org/DigitalLibrary/).
