Multi-Agent Systems - MAS 2011
Call for Papers
Chair

Portugal
Scope

The Special Session on Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) intends to bring together several communities that are in the crossroads of agent technology, including software engineering, artificial intelligence, distributed systems and networking, to discuss the state-of-the-art in the area of multi-agent systems. This paradigm can effectively address problems in open distributed systems, where issues related to security, communication, coordination and intelligent organizations arise. The Cloud offers interesting new opportunities in the areas of multi-agent systems modeling and development. This is a rich interdisciplinary area that requires both innovative R&D in the areas of knowledge representation, interoperability, communication languages, and system architectures. MAS invites quality papers describing original research ideas and new findings on technological aspects of multi-agent systems, in particular papers describing methods, techniques, recent advances, applications and tools that may related to cloud computing and/or services computing in the present or in the near future.

Business Systems and Aligned IT Services - BITS 2011
Call for Papers
Chair

Boris Shishkov
IICREST
Bulgaria
Scope

The special session on business systems and aligned IT services will focus on the importance of business models for the derivation of IT services. This comes through the establishment of the business system 'as is', the related conceptualization, and the proposal for the 'to be' system that would include introduced IT services. What adds a specific 'flavor' to these problems nevertheless is the link to Cloud Computing which is considered important because IT services are becoming inevitably aligned with underlying Cloud technologies. Hence, the main challenges to be considered are: (i) the business modeling itself, envisioning (at a computation-independent level) business goals to be fulfilled by services through the 'Cloud'; (ii) the reflection of such computation-independent models in particular platform-related solutions; (iii) the service functionality specification and the links to relevant 'Cloud' concepts.
